Traffic Shop Foreman Summary :

Under basic supervision, performs a variety of basic labor tasks to install traffic control signs and paint pavement markings on City streets; operates vehicles, equipment, and tools in compliance with all safety regulations and standard procedures .

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following : Installs traffic control signs and paints pavement markings; follows all safety rules, regulations, and policies for traffic control on the job site; duties will vary according to job assignment. Assists in the fabrication of traffic control signs; removes vegetation as needed; maintains and operates vehicles and equipment according to the Traffic Department standards. Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries. Supports the departmental operation with regular and timely attendance at work. Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:

High School Diploma or GED preferred. Some related outdoor work experience is preferred, but not required.

Knowledge of:

Basic traffic control and safety procedures and regulations Skill in: Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment. Following standard operating and safety procedures. Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures. Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.

License and certification requirements:

A Texas State Driver's License is required.
