Job Description
The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity in the Department of Public Works as an Equipment Operator-Streets. The duties described below are indicative of what an Equipment Operator might be asked to perform. Other duties may be assigned. The Equipment Operator-Streets performs semi-skilled manual labor either as an individual or in a team related to street maintenance and repair programs of city streets and Right of Way (ROW). Work in this position involves heavy manual labor. Under general supervision, employees follow established routines and procedures as directed. This position works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma or equivalent 2. A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record 3. A minimum of one (1) year of responsible work experience, with experience in streets maintenance and repair preferred 4. Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire 5. "N" tank vehicle endorsement for CDL, or the ability to obtain the "N" tank vehicle endorsement within six (6) months of hire 6. Certification in FEMA IS-100 and FEMA IS-700 or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire 7. Familiarity or experience with computer-aided design and fabrication of traffic or other specialty signs is desired 8. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered Equal Opportunity Employer
