Moorpark, CA Who We Are S G Daley Mfg Co. is a small, family-owned manufacturing company that produces plastic plant labels and horticultural products used by nurseries, farms, and growers across the United States. Job Summary We are seeking one full-time Machine Operator Trainee to learn how to operate and assist in our plastic extrusion operation. This position is ideal for individuals with prior experience operating CNC machinery, or similar manufacturing equipment, who are looking to expand their skills into a new field. No prior extrusion experience is required. We are willing to train dependable, detail-oriented candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn. Responsibilities Assist in setting up and operating plastic extrusion equipment Monitor product thickness, color, and overall quality through visual inspection and measurement Identify, mix, and load plastic raw materials and colorants into machinery Make basic machine adjustments under supervision Record production and quality data Move raw materials and finished products (up to 50 pounds) Maintain a clean and tidy work space Follow all safety and quality procedures Qualifications & Skills Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn Experience operating CNC machines or other precision manufacturing equipment (like printing press, injection molding, thermoforming, and production machine operation) Basic math, reading, and writing skills Effective communication skills, including listening and following instructions Basic computer skills Strong attention to detail Reliable attendance and punctuality Dependable team player Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks Ability to safely use tools such as calipers, pliers, Allen wrenches, scrapers, and measuring devices Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Comfortable working around industrial machinery Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset Starting pay training period ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour , based on prior manufacturing experience, mechanical aptitude, and overall qualifications. This is a training-based position, and employees who successfully complete the training period and demonstrate strong performance may be eligible for wage increases and advancement opportunities. Compensation decisions are based on factors such as experience, technical skills, attendance, job performance, and business needs.
