Classic Car Specialist Stamford, CT Job Details 20 hours ago Qualifications Schematics Driver's License Auto restoration Full Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Classic Car Specialist with deep expertise in vintage and collector vehicles. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, restoring, and maintaining classic automobiles to the highest standards of authenticity, performance, and craftsmanship. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with pre-1990 vehicles, understands legacy mechanical systems, and takes pride in precision work. Key Responsibilities Perform mechanical diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on classic and vintage vehicles Execute full and partial restorations, including engine rebuilds, drivetrains, suspension, and braking systems Work with carbureted engines, manual transmissions, and non-computerized systems Interpret and source original parts, or fabricate/custom-fit components when necessary Ensure all restorations maintain historical accuracy and/or client specifications Troubleshoot electrical systems (wiring harnesses, ignition systems, etc.) in older vehicles Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, parts used, and restoration progress Collaborate with bodywork, paint, and upholstery specialists when required Adhere to safety standards and maintain a clean, organized workspace Qualifications 5+ years of experience working on classic, antique, or collector vehicles Strong knowledge of vintage automotive systems (pre-OBD, carburetors, mechanical fuel systems) Proven experience with engine rebuilding and full vehicle restoration projects Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and historical documentation Fabrication and welding experience preferred High attention to detail and craftsmanship mindset Valid driver's license Preferred Experience Experience with European classics (e.g., Jaguar, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz) and/or American muscle cars Familiarity with concours-level restorations ASE certification (or equivalent) is a plus but not required Experience working in restoration shops, specialty garages, or private collections
