Job Description
Welding & Joining Technology Instructor The Welding & Joining Technology Instructor plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of skilled welders. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across day, evening, and online programs, serving both traditional and dual-enrolled students. The instructor brings real-world industry experience into the classroom and lab, creating an environment that mirrors modern workforce expectations. Job Summary You'll lead students through both the theory and hands-on practice of welding and joining technology, helping them build the technical skills and confidence needed for success in the field. Instruction may take place in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats, with an emphasis on practical, industry-relevant learning. In this role, you will: Deliver engaging classroom and lab instruction aligned with state academic standards Create a realistic, industry-simulated learning environment Evaluate student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback Maintain accurate records, grades, and required documentation Stay current with industry trends, tools, and emerging technologies Participate in professional development to continuously improve instruction Safety & Innovation Safety is at the core of everything you do. You'll ensure that all students follow proper procedures while working with tools and equipment, while also maintaining a clean, organized, and fully functional lab environment. You'll also help keep the program forward-looking by: Recommending updated tools, equipment, and technologies Supporting maintenance and readiness of lab equipment Integrating modern technology into instruction Curriculum & Collaboration Beyond teaching, you'll contribute to the growth and quality of the program by: Developing curriculum, lesson plans, and course materials Collaborating with faculty to assess and improve student learning outcomes Supporting accreditation and program reporting requirements Enhancing online course content and learning platforms Program Support & Engagement You'll work closely with program leadership and colleagues to strengthen the overall student experience.
This includes:
Assisting with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts Managing supplies, equipment, and budget requests Participating in committees and special projects as neededEducation/Experience Required:
Diploma in Welding from an accredited institution At least 3 years of welding experience (within the last 7 years) Ability to pass an AWS plate welding test (and pipe welding test for select campuses) Valid driver's licensePreferred:
Associate degree in Welding and Joining Technology AWS or other industry certifications Extensive (10+ years) welding experience Pipe welding expertise Teaching experience at the postsecondary level Familiarity with instructional technologies and systems (e.g., LMS platforms, Microsoft Office) Key Strengths for Success Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to break down complex concepts into practical learning steps Solid decision-making and problem-solving abilities Organizational skills for grading, reporting, and planning A collaborative mindset when working with students and colleagues Work Environment & Schedule This is a full-time position based in both classroom and lab settings. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday with a mix of day and evening hours, though some weekend work may be required. A minimum on-campus presence is expected, and occasional travel between campuses may be needed. ________________________________________ Physical Requirements This role involves active movement, including standing, walking, and handling equipment. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work in a hands-on lab environment is required.
