Job Description
Description Summary The adjunct welding instructor position will educate a diverse population of students in the SMAW and GMAW or GTAW welding processes. This position will be responsible for enforcing lab safety, delivering relevant lectures and demonstrations to students according to the established curriculum. Duties & Responsibilities Utilize departmental syllabus template, approved textbooks, and supplemental course materials. Submit personalized course syllabus to Deans' Office in electronic format one (1) week prior to course start date. Distribute and review comprehensive course syllabus to students no later than the first week of the course. Receive, understand, and follow Course Data Form as distributed by Deans' Office. Adhere to printed course schedule meeting times and locations. Obtain prior approval for any substitute teachers or guest speakers from Deans' Office. Maintain grade book in electronic or hard copy format. Take and record student Attendance each day. Submit accurate and certified Tenth (10th) Day Attendance Verification and Mid-Semester Class Roster or other report to Deans' Office. Give final exam at the time and date indicated on the college's Final Exam Schedule. Respond to e-mails from students, staff, and college administrators in a timely manner while classes are in session using assigned college designated e-mail. Check assigned college mailbox regularly. Qualifications Required Qualifications Three (3) years of experience as a certified welder in SMAW and GMAW or GTAW. Three (3) years of welding instruction experience or welding supervisor experience. Must be able to work independently and show good judgment. Able to meet the physical demands of the schedule. Must be available nights and/or days and weekends. Must be able to demonstrate the Morton College core values of compassion, equity, accountability, innovation, and excellence. Preferred Qualifications Associate Degree in Welding Technology or other related field. American Welding Society ( AWS ) Certified Welding Educator or Certified Welding Inspector. Three (3) years welding instruction experience at the collegiate level in one or more welding processes. Bilingual English / Spanish. Payment rate is per ECH.
