Job Description
About the Role As a Rail Vehicle Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our transit fleet. You will utilize your expertise in electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems to perform complex diagnostics and repairs, directly impacting the efficiency and performance of light rail operations. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive preventative and corrective maintenance on light rail vehicle (LRV) systems, including propulsion, HVAC, and braking assemblies. Diagnose and resolve complex malfunctions in high/low voltage electrical systems, printed circuit boards, and logic controllers. Operate specialized diagnostic tools, wheel truing machinery, and heavy-duty shop equipment to maintain vehicle integrity. Interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering manuals to execute precise mechanical and electronic repairs. Document maintenance activities and equipment performance through detailed reporting to ensure compliance with safety standards. Safely maneuver vehicles within the yard and shop environment for maintenance and train assembly purposes. Operate support vehicles, including high-rail trucks and trailers, to facilitate field repairs and logistics. Qualifications Required Skills Proven experience in mechanical, electrical, or electronic maintenance, preferably in a transit or heavy equipment environment. Strong proficiency in troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems. Ability to read and interpret complex technical publications, blueprints, and circuit diagrams. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Capability to perform physically demanding tasks and operate specialized maintenance equipment. Preferred Skills Prior experience with light rail vehicle (LRV) maintenance or similar rail transit systems. Advanced certifications in electronics or industrial maintenance. Experience with specialized re-railing equipment and heavy-duty hydraulic systems. Demonstrated ability to work independently while adhering to strict safety protocols and operational guidelines.
