PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Are you ready to lead and drive meaningful change? As a Roadmaster at CPKC, you will be a pivotal leader responsible for upholding the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency accross the thriving and diverse territory spanning from Shreveport, LA to Potter, AR. In this role, you will supervise a dedicated team of union employees, oversee all track operations and maintenance-of-way activities, and ensure strict adherence to Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations. This opportunity not only allows you to make a lasting impact within our organization but also offers exceptional professional growth in a dynamic and rewarding environment. The position will be headquartered out of Texarkana. This position offers a $10,000 signing bonus for qualified candidates.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

Develop and implement robust emergency response and seasonal contingency plans to proactively address and minimize service interruptions

Mentor and provide technical guidance to craft employees, supporting their skill advancement and strengthening overall team performance

Lead and manage unionized staff in accordance with the Collective Agreement, facilitating resolutions for corrective actions, disputes, and grievances to uphold positive labor relations

Ensure the successful execution of annual and multi-year capital planning objectives, optimizing resource utilization and project outcomes

Oversee engineering material management and maintain precise inventory records, ensuring all inspections are accurately captured within the Track Asset Management Systems (TAMS)

Conduct monthly territory reviews alongside Train and Engine (T&E) personnel to monitor safety compliance, operational efficiency, and workforce engagement.

Advance initiatives focused on regulatory compliance, service excellence, and sustainability of financial results

Maintain CPKC's full compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulatory protocols, safeguarding standards of safety and operational integrity

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or general equivalency

Valid driver's license

Minimum 5 years' relevant experience, including two or more years directing teams or complex projects centered on track renewal and maintenance, or an equivalent mix of education and experience

Well-versed in railway track safety regulations and standards

Proficient in interpreting and implementing the Maintenance of Way Employees Division (MWED) collective bargaining agreement within daily operations

Provide emergency response support as part of an on-call rotation, typically every other week, to help maintain continuous 24/7 operations

As an employee with a North American presence, the possibility does exist that the location of your position may be changed based on organizational requirements. Management Conductor Program Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
