As a Mechanical Foreman, you'll work side-by-side with the Mechanical Manager to coordinate the teams' daily tasks, ensure safety, and keep locomotives running at peak performance. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and other applicable railroad safety and operational regulations Direct daily workflow of shop activities and guide other employees to perform work safely Assist shop management with equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate with Transportation and other department when needed Assist in maintaining compliance including accurate record keeping t for all federal, state, and other applicable railroad safety and operational regulations (for example, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Association of American Railroads (AAR)) Implement approved repair and maintenance practices for equipment Perform daily locomotive servicing (for example - fueling, cleaning, supply check) and / or car inspections Support periodic and annual inspections while ensuring compliance with FRA and AAR standards Maintain optimum inventory level to support repair activities ordering materials as required Collaborate with others on repair strategies and project planning Interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and repair instructions Assist with projects and perform other duties as assigned Working Conditions /Physical Requirements:
Full-time (40 plus hours weekly) Varying schedule in a 24/7 work environment that includes nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call Outdoor work in all weather conditions Walking on uneven surfaces and climbing ladders and equipment always ensuring 3 points of contact in varying environmental conditions Working at elevated heights of 18 feet or greater while adhering to fall protection safety guidelines Frequent lifting of equipment and tools that could be up to 75 pounds Ability to work in confined spaces Must be able to stoop, kneel, squat and twist as necessary while working on equipment Occasional travel may be requiredSkills and Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant work experience Knowledge of the safe handling and disposal of hazardous and nonhazardous waste products Knowledge of FRA regulations pertaining to locomotive maintenance and inspection is a plus Knowledge of railroad environmental requirements a plus Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate via radio or in person Effective computer skills (Microsoft Office, applications, reporting, etc.) Possess situational awareness and decision-making abilities to respond effectively in a safety sensitive environmentRequired Education and Credentials:
High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience Valid driver's license At least 18 years of ageEmployment Requirements:

Must live within 50 miles of assigned location or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.
