Job Description

Position Overview Eastern Drayage is seeking an experienced FMCSA Certified Diesel Truck Inspector to join our team in Kearny, NJ. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and hands-on experience inspecting diesel tractors and trailers. This is a full-time, on-site position responsible for conducting DOT inspections, ensuring our equipment meets all applicable safety and regulatory requirements, and supporting inspection needs at our other terminals as required. Key Responsibilities Perform
DOT/FMCSA
inspections on diesel tractors and trailers. Conduct thorough inspections of commercial motor vehicles to ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations. Inspect and evaluate air-brake systems and related components. Perform intermodal equipment inspections (IEIR). Identify safety issues, defects, and required repairs. Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation. Ensure tractors, trailers, and intermodal equipment comply with applicable federal safety standards. Stay current with changes to
FMCSA/DOT
regulations and inspection requirements. Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams regarding inspection findings and equipment repairs. Travel periodically to company terminals in Savannah, GA; Houston, TX; and Baltimore, MD to conduct inspections and support compliance efforts. Required Qualifications FMCSA-certified inspector with experience inspecting commercial diesel trucks. Air-Brake Certified. IEIR Certified (Intermodal Equipment Inspection). Strong working knowledge of FMCSA regulations for tractors and trailers. Experience performing DOT/commercial vehicle inspections. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. Ability and willingness to travel to company terminals as needed. Ability to work independently and manage inspection responsibilities across multiple locations. $75,000.00 per year
