Job Description

Posting Details We provide a safe an efficient transportation system for the traveling public, while promoting economic development and preserving the environment of New Mexico. This position is with the District Six Maintenance Office. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date. As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrate leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government. Why does the job exist? The purpose of the office clerk position is to provide administrative assistance to NMDOT Maintenance Section by preparing reports, creating, maintaining and tracking documentation related to District 6 maintenance operations and bridge inspection, and performing other clerical duties as assigned. How does it get done? Perform administrative duties for the Assistant District Engineer in Maintenance. This position will maintain records; verify statistical reports for accuracy and completeness; perform highly specialized clerical work including filing, typing, date entry, work processing, and other computer software applications. Answer all incoming calls, relay messages, correspondence, emails, schedule meetings for Assistant District Engineer for Maintenance. Review, track and process D6 accident reports to ensure that all damage cost reports are compiled and entered into OIG's Damage Claim System. Manage and update bridge inspection data base to ensure that all inspection and maintenance request forms have been reviewed and signed by the ADE. Assist maintenance management analyst in inputting and pulling information from the MMS. Working with the Patrol/Special Crews to provide support and distribute and process documentation as needed. Who are the customers? Internal and external customers. Ideal Candidate Internal and external customers. Minimum Qualification No prior experience or training required. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Business reference check and driver's license verification are required, and employment is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with some travel required. Sitting for extended periods of time utilizing a computer. Work extended hours and under pressure to meet deadlines; interact with co-workers. Lift up to 25lbs.
