Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Barricade - Traffic Control Technician and play a vital role in ensuring safety and efficiency on construction sites and roadwork zones. In this energetic position, you will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and removing traffic control devices such as barricades, cones, signs, and flagging to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic safely around active work zones. Your expertise will help protect workers, motorists, and the public while supporting construction projects that improve infrastructure and community connectivity. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in a fast-paced environment, utilizing your skills in heavy equipment operation, traffic management, and construction safety protocols. Responsibilities Set up and dismantle traffic control barricades, signage, cones, and flagging devices according to project plans and safety standards Direct traffic flow around construction zones using proper hand signals and flagging techniques to ensure safety for workers and the public Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, backhoes, graders, dozers, front loader trucks, dump trucks, and other machinery necessary for site preparation and maintenance Assist with utility locating and highway maintenance tasks to support civil infrastructure projects Follow FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations for commercial truck driving when operating larger vehicles like dump trucks or front loader trucks Conduct routine inspections of traffic control devices and equipment to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety protocols Maintain detailed records of daily activities, safety checks, equipment usage, and incident reports in accordance with company policies Qualifications Proven experience in construction site roles involving road construction or highway maintenance Skilled in heavy equipment operation including dozer, loader operation, backhoe operation, grader operation, paving machinery, and utility tools Knowledge of traffic control for work zones along with familiarity with FMCSA regulations for commercial truck driving Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety protocol standards Outdoor work experience in various weather conditions is essential Mechanical knowledge of power tools, welding equipment, hand tools, and basic maintenance skills Strong understanding of utility locating procedures and safety procedures on construction sites Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating Caterpillar machinery is a plus Excellent manual handling skills combined with the ability to work efficiently on construction projects in a civil infrastructure role Join us if you're passionate about maintaining safe roads while working outdoors on impactful projects!
