The primary purpose of the

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST

(TERMINAL), GS-2152-11, is to perform Air Traffic control duties the Nional Aeronautics and Space Administrion (NASA) Air Traffic Control Tower Moffett Field, California. Obtains and maintains a comprehensive knowledge of airspace, adjacent airway and route structure, opering agreements with other facilities, airport layout, geographic area including significant terrain and other feures, locion of navigional aids and flight informion publicions. Maintains various records concerning terminal operions. Issues control instructions to provide safe and organized flow of ground aircraft traffic and ensures safe separion of airborne traffic within deleged airspace. Relays VFR/IFR departure times to Operions, Flight Service or Approach Control as required. Relays clearances and control instructions between tower and radar and adjacent air traffic control. Receives, posts, and relays flight da to local, ground, and clearance delivery. Directs, sequences, and separes arriving, overflying, and departing Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Visual Flight Rules (VFR) aircraft opering within assigned airspace. Safeguards and facilites operion of aircraft opering in the congested airspace. The position resides within the infrastructure and support functions of the ste Nional Guard; the incumbent is not subject to mobilizion, nor is the work described part of the military mission; and the incumbent does not perform a key advisory or essential administrive role th is inherently military. In addition, the position must meet one of the following: It does not have a comparable military function; the position is required in full-time (civilian) role when the organizion, or similar military position, is mobilized to perform continuing post-mobilizion functions; or the position requires a skill or competency th necessites technical expertise or professional qualificions th cannot be readily found in the military structure of the ste military force. Must achieve certificion in the Supplemental Aviion Weher Reporting Stion (SAWRS) program The maximum entry age for original entry into an identified ATC position is 36. An individual not appointed by the last day of the month in which the individual becomes age 36 will not be appointed or assigned to an ATC position. Individuals past the maximum entry age limit of 36 but who previously served in covered positions may be reinsted to a covered position only if they: Meet the qualificion requirements for the position. Have received ATC Specialist Certificion according to Federal Aviion Administrion (FAA) standards. Have been qualified and facility-certified in a DoD or FAA ATC Facility. Will be able to complete a total of 20 years of covered service as an ATC by the last day of the month in which you become age 56. Qualificions

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST

(TERMINAL), GS-2152-11: Must have least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to least the GS-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the prive sector, but must demonstre th it is comparable to the GS grade indiced. Specialized experience may have been demonstred by performing duties such as: Issuing control instructions and advice to pilots in the vicinity of airports to assure proper separion of aircraft and to expedite their safe and efficient movement; Ability to act decisively under stressful situions and to maintain alertness over sustained periods of pressure; Skill to coordine plans and actions with pilots and other controllers; and Judgment to select and take the safest and most effective course of action. Must have a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist Certifice (pink card) and a Control Tower (CTO) Certifice. Air Traffic Safety Oversight (AOV) credentials accepted in place of a CTO.
