THE POSITION
Join the Department of Transportation as a Traffic Control Specialist and play an important role in managing modern traffic systems. This position lets you work with ITS equipment, support operations, and contribute to emergency response efforts. You will work closely with skilled professionals who value accuracy and teamwork. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports Intelligent Transportation Systems by helping maintain devices, assist with traffic operations, and contribute to engineering-related reviews. As a Traffic Control Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
ITS Operations:
Assist with operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting ITS devices and communication systems
Project Support:
Help review ITS plans, attend technical training, and support equipment design activities
Traffic Center Work:
Support day-to-day operations of the Traffic Management Center and assist in training new staff
Emergency Response:
Participate in incident management activities, drills, and emergency communication efforts
Permit Review:
Review special event permits and coordinate needed changes with applicants
Engineering Tasks:
Conduct field views, support traffic studies, and assist with traffic signal evaluations
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as a Traffic Control Specialist Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years as a Traffic Control Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of experience in traffic control work; and a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, civil engineering, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
