Job Description:
PURPOSE:
To assist in the preparatory and laborious work associated with the different departmental trades; pipe, asphalt, grading, curb and gutter, structures, traffic control, etc. Must take a class to be Certified for Flagging. King Asphalt will provide this training.
JOB DUTIES
MUST
BE CERTIFIED
Perform work zone traffic control activities as needed and required. Develop and execute an effective and compliant traffic control plan, in conjunction with project management, including individual work activities, to meet project goals. Conduct daily and routine work zone traffic control inspections as required. Responsible for training and development of workers who perform work zone traffic control tasks. Required to operate pickups and/or flatbed trucks, and miscellaneous hand tools. Work from ladders, lifts, scaffolds, as necessary, to install, maintain or repair traffic control devices. Must also be able to load and unload trucks and haul and lift materials. Complete required paperwork in a timely manner while assuring accuracy. Assures the proper handling, storage and inventory of work zone traffic control equipment and materials for the duration of the project. Ensure that required tasks are completed in accordance with all applicable company, local, state and federal rules and regulations. Effectively communicate any problems or concerns to appropriate personnel. Perform additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other manager. Certification through the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) or equivalent recognized authority. Proven experience working as a flagger. Sound knowledge of state traffic regulations. The ability to stand for extended periods. The ability to work as part of a team. The ability to work in harsh weather conditions.
