Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Traffic Control Technician to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians around construction sites, roadwork zones, and utility projects. In this vital role, you will implement traffic control plans, set up signage and barriers, and work closely with construction crews to maintain safety standards. Your proactive approach will help prevent accidents, minimize disruptions, and keep everyone on site protected. Duties Set up and maintain traffic control devices such as cones, barrels, signs, and flagging stations to direct vehicle and pedestrian flow Follow approved traffic control plans and safety protocols to ensure compliance with local regulations Communicate effectively with construction teams, motorists, and pedestrians to provide clear directions and updates Monitor work zones continuously for safety hazards or traffic issues, making adjustments as needed Assist with utility locating to identify underground services before excavation or paving activities Operate heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, dump trucks, and paving machinery when required for site setup or support Conduct routine inspections of traffic control setups to ensure visibility and stability throughout the project duration Skills Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks in construction environments Strong understanding of traffic control devices and safety standards Ability to read and interpret construction plans and traffic control layouts accurately Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and directing traffic effectively Knowledge of utility locating techniques and equipment (e.g., CAT (Caterpillar) tools) is a plus Construction site experience with familiarity in paving, grading, or general infrastructure projects preferred Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety standards Join us as a Traffic Control Technician to play a crucial role in keeping construction sites safe while supporting vital infrastructure improvements.
