Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and vigilant Traffic Control Specialist to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians around construction sites and roadwork zones. In this energetic role, you will manage traffic flow, set up and maintain safety signage, and coordinate with construction teams to uphold safety standards. Your dedication will help minimize accidents, reduce congestion, and promote a secure environment for workers and the public alike. Responsibilities Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices such as cones, barriers, signs, and flagging equipment in accordance with safety regulations. Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic around construction zones to ensure smooth flow and prevent accidents. Communicate clearly with construction crews, drivers, pedestrians, and other stakeholders to coordinate safe traffic management. Monitor work zones continuously for compliance with safety standards and promptly address any hazards or violations. Assist in the installation and operation of heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, dump trucks, and paving machinery as needed. Conduct site inspections to verify proper signage placement and overall traffic control effectiveness. Maintain detailed records of daily activities, incidents, and safety checks to support ongoing site safety programs. Qualifications Prior experience in construction site operations or traffic control roles is highly preferred. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, dump trucks, and paving machinery. Familiarity with utility locating techniques to identify underground utilities before work begins. Ability to operate or assist with heavy machinery including Caterpillar equipment is a plus. Strong understanding of construction safety protocols and traffic management standards. Excellent communication skills for clear coordination with team members and the public.
