Alabama DHR Compliant Starting Pay:
$13 per hour We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Van Driver to safely transport school-age children to and from local schools each day. This position must meet all Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) Minimum Standards for Day Care Centers and Nighttime Centers regarding transportation personnel. The ideal candidate is responsible, punctual, and committed to ensuring children are transported safely and in compliance with state regulations.
Responsibilities:
Safely transport children to and from assigned schools Conduct and document daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections Ensure all children are properly secured in seat belts at all times Maintain accurate transportation logs and attendance records Follow all Alabama DHR transportation safety standards Supervise children during loading and unloading Never leave children unattended in the vehicle Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report maintenance concerns immediately Follow emergency procedures and center safety policies
Alabama Licensing Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following DHR requirements: At least 19 years of age (per Alabama DHR standards) Valid Alabama driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type Clean driving record (Motor Vehicle Report required) Ability to pass comprehensive background check through Alabama DHR Must complete required DHR pre-service training Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before hire) Must be physically able to safely evacuate children from the vehicle in an emergency
Schedule:
Monday-Friday Morning and afternoon school routes (exact hours discussed during interview)
