Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a reliable, safety-first Commercial Van Driver to safely transport students (ages 4-12) from our preschool facility to local elementary schools. The ideal candidate will love working around children, have an impeccable driving record, and strictly adhere to California vehicle and student transit safety laws. This is a vital role in ensuring our students start and end their school days safely.
Requirements:
Must posses a valid California Commercial Driver's License A clean DMV driving record with no recent at-fault accidents or major violations (DUI, reckless driving, etc) Must have a livescan clearance Must provide proof of a physical, TB skin test, MMR and Tdap vaccinations
Duties:
Safely operate school vans according to the traffic laws, vehicle codes, and school policies, ensuring passenger safety at all times. Transport students to and from school, field trips, extracurricular activities, and special events with punctuality and care. Assist student with boarding and exiting the van. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and emergency stop procedures. Maintain discipline and manage student behavior through positive behavior management techniques. Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, mechanical integrity, and compliance with transportation safety regulations. Communicate effectively with students and school staff. Respond quickly to traffic changes or road hazards to ensure timely arrivals while prioritizing safety.
Skills:
Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and state/local commercial driving laws. Strong understanding of transportation safety regulations and emergency response procedures for transportation incidents. Maintaining discipline and order on the van. Childcare experience or familiarity with student discipline strategies to foster a positive environment. Quick response skills to adapt swiftly to traffic changes or unexpected situations during routes. Ability to perform physical tasks such as assisting children in and out of the van. Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
