As a Driver/ Floater, you are both the daily connector and the dependable support system. Ensuring families can consistently access Bright Beginnings programming by safely transporting parents and young children to and from Grace Place satellite locations. You ensure vehicles are maintained to the highest safety standards, and classrooms receive flexible, hands-on support when needed. You are trusted with the safety of children on the road and the stability of classrooms throughout the day. This role is for someone who is equally comfortable behind the wheel and on the classroom floor. Someone who understands that consistency, safety, and care are what allow children to learn and thrive. What Success Looks Like in This Role Parents and children are transported safely, on time, and in accordance with all program and safety standards. Vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and fully operational. Safety procedures are consistently followed, documented, and updated. In the classroom, children receive supportive, attentive care that reinforces learning, emotional regulation, and positive behavior. Teachers feel supported, transitions run smoothly, and classrooms remain safe, organized, and engaged throughout the day. What You Will Do Safely transport families on assigned routes while maintaining strict safety and supervision standards Ensure vehicles are properly inspected, maintained, and compliant with all transportation requirements Ensure all infants and young children are properly secured in age-appropriate car seats at all times Promote a safe, structured, and positive environment for families during transportation, classroom time, meals, and transitions Support classrooms as needed by assisting lead teachers with daily activities, learning experiences, and child supervision Follow all safety protocols, documentation requirements, and communication procedures across transportation and classroom settings Maintain flexibility to move between driving responsibilities and classroom support based on daily program needs What You Bring High school diploma or GED equivalent, required Experience safely transporting children and/or families preferred Must obtain Foundation Florida DCF certificate within 1 year of employment Valid driver's license with clean driving record CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe) Ability to meet state background screening requirements Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings preferred Strong communication, reliability, and teamwork skills Ability to safely operate and maintain a passenger vehicle Commitment to child safety, early learning, and supportive classroom environments Work Location & Travel Requirements Operate a motor vehicle to travel between Grace Place locations, attend meetings, training, or off-site obligations, and transport materials as needed. When driving is required as part of job duties, the employee must maintain a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and active automobile insurance. Special Requirements:
Current first aid and CPR certification (can be obtained within 90 days of employment). Requires mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend; ability to walk long distances; ability to participate actively with students of all ages both indoors and outside. Meet required DCF training courses (45 hours) Maintain the required 10 hours of in-service training. Compliance with Good Moral Character as defined by DCF. Physical Demands & Work Environment This position requires active engagement in an early childhood classroom environment. The Classroom Floater must be able to move throughout the classroom and interact with children at their level throughout the day. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, and sitting on the floor or low surfaces. The employee must be able to lift and assist children and classroom materials up to approximately 40 pounds and remain physically active and alert for extended periods. The Classroom Floater must be able to respond quickly to the needs of children in a dynamic classroom environment while maintaining safety, supervision, and engagement at all times. Background Screening Requirement:
All applicants must successfully complete required State and National background screening as a condition of employment prior to beginning work at Grace Place for Children and Families. Screening is conducted in accordance with applicable Florida law, including Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, and, when applicable, Chapter 408, Florida Statutes. Background screening includes fingerprinting for FDLE and FBI criminal history checks and review through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
