Job Description
Overview Join our vibrant early childhood education team as a Preschool Cook and Van Driver! This dynamic role combines the joy of preparing nutritious, kid-friendly meals with the responsibility of safely transporting children to and from our preschool. You'll play a vital part in creating a positive, healthy environment for young learners while ensuring their safety and well-being through excellent driving and food service practices. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a nurturing community dedicated to early childhood development. This position may help cover breaks, and do our van run to two local elementary schools. Will have to have a background screening, and take DCF 40 clock hours. Starting hours may vary but can be between 7:00 AM -7:30 AM and between 2:30 -3:30 PM. Responsibilities Prepare and serve balanced, appealing meals and snacks tailored to preschool-aged children, following strict food safety and sanitation procedures. Accommodate allergies, and incorporate diverse, nutritious options. Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, mixers, and food prep tools efficiently and safely during high-volume food production. Maintain cleanliness and sanitization standards throughout the kitchen area, adhering to food safety management protocols. Safely transport children in a clean, well-maintained van, following designated routes and schedules while prioritizing safety at all times. Assist with meal setup, portioning, and cleanup to ensure a smooth dining experience for young children. Follow all food handling regulations, recipe adherence, and catering standards to deliver consistent quality in meal preparation. Requirements Previous experience as a dietary aide or in food service within a childcare or educational setting is highly preferred. Demonstrated skills in menu planning, food preparation, and operating kitchen equipment such as grills, braising pans, poaching tools, and knives. Experience with food safety sanitizing procedures, high-volume production, and food handling regulations. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating vans or similar vehicles is advantageous. Strong understanding of dietary department operations, including recipe adherence and meal prep for groups of children. Excellent communication skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately. Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness.
