the standard IRS mileage rate (which tracks wear-and-tear plus fuel) or a flat weekly gas stipend (e.g., $20

Job Description:
We are looking for a reliable, responsible young adult (ideally college-age, can be male or female) to help support three teenage boys (15yo, 14yo, 12yo) with their after-school schedules, sports (football, soccer and basketball) and academics. This is a long-term, part-time position providing homework/study help and driving them to local sports and activities. Help will be required most days, but not every day, Monday-Thursday, 3pm-7:30/8:00pm depending on boys' academic tutoring needs and sports schedules. Schedules sometimes change rapidly and last-minute so candidate must be flexible. Grandmother lives nearby and is also significantly involved in driving help and dinner preparation.

Crucial Requirement:
You must be fully available to house-sit and provide overnight coverage from Sunday, November 1 to Saturday, November 7, 2026, while the wife/mother is traveling. (Husband works very late and will be home mostly after 10pm each night and his arrival is unpredictable due to work demands). During this particular week, hours will be 3:00 PM to 9:00 AM daily. You will have your own private bedroom and a clean, shared full bathroom nearby, both downstairs, with the physical ability to regularly help with and check on the boys upstairs and downstairs. Light help with kitchen/dishes and pet feeding, and letting dog out and in.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Transportation:
    Driving the boys to and from local practices, games, and school activities.
  • Academic Support:
    Acting as a study helper to keep the boys on track with homework, test prep (mostly algebra & geometry), and school projects.
  • Overnight Care (Nov 1-7 only): Managing dinner (with Grandma's help), evening routines, sleeping overnight, and handling the morning routine/school drop-offs.
Vehicle Requirements:
  • Regular Shifts:
    You must have your own SAFE, reliable personal vehicle with enough seatbelts, seating capacity and trunk space to transport teenagers and sports gear. (A gas stipend or standard mileage reimbursement will be provided).
  • Travel Week (Nov 1-7): You will have access to and may use our GMC Yukon for all driving duties while the wife/mother is away or use your own car if preferred.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Safe driver with a clean driving record (must pass a full background and driving record check).
  • Comfortable driving a large SUV (GMC Yukon) during the travel week (by choice).
  • Prior experience with children or youth and provide references
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep teenage boys focused on schoolwork.
  • Relatable personality and sense of humor with teenage boys!

  • Reliable, punctual, flexible, communicative and pro-active (not reactive) when possible
