Job Description
This is a split shift position where the driver will drive in the morning and afternoon Overview As a part time driver, you will perform a pre-check of the vehicle before your departure for the day. You will be in constant contact with our dispatchers to ensure a timely arrival for your trips. You will be responsible for transporting the clients we serve as well as the general public to and from destinations. These fares will be logged using a tablet inside the vehicle. This position requires getting in and out of a minivan or minibus to assist people on and off the vehicle. You will also be required to perform a post-check inspection of the vehicle at the end of the day. Duties Safely operate vans, shuttle buses, and other commercial vehicles to transport passengers or goods efficiently Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, ensuring comfort and safety at all times Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure optimal performance Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and customers to coordinate pickups, drop-offs, and delivery schedules Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies to uphold high standards of driving excellence Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger questions or concerns professionally and courteously Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience in shuttle driving, bus driving, or limousine service is highly preferred High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent is required. Proven delivery driver experience or commercial driving background; familiarity with paratransit or school bus driving is a plus Strong communication skills to interact effectively with passengers and team members Ability to perform heavy lifting when loading or unloading cargo safely Knowledge of vehicle maintenance basics to identify issues early and ensure safety compliance Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings as needed Must be able to pass ILDOT Drug Screen (includes marijuana) Abilities Plus is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer.
