A Van, Taxi, Shuttle Driver drives vehicles to transport small groups of passengers, or provides paying customers with transportation to a specific location. May transport passengers between a small number of predetermined locations, such as a hotel shuttle that provides patrons with rides to the airport.
Transportation of enrolled children and occasional center-related errands
Job Purpose:
The Van Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of children to and from the center, school, and field trip destinations. The driver ensures that all children are transported securely, with professionalism and care, while maintaining the vehicle in safe operating condition. This role plays a key part in daily operations, family trust, and overall center safety.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Transportation of Children Safely transport children between home, school, and the childcare center based on assigned routes or schedules. Ensure that each child is properly secured in the vehicle using appropriate child safety restraints. Maintain control of the vehicle at all times and practice defensive, cautious driving techniques. 2. Safety & Supervision Conduct head counts before departure, during stops, and upon arrival to ensure all children are accounted for. Never leave children unattended in the vehicle at any time. Follow all state and center protocols for loading, unloading, and supervising children during transit. 3. Vehicle Maintenance & Cleanliness Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle (tires, fuel, lights, cleanliness, etc.). Report any issues, maintenance needs, or incidents to the Director immediately. Keep the vehicle clean, organized, and fueled at all times. 4. Compliance & Documentation Maintain accurate daily transportation logs and incident reports when needed. Follow state transportation regulations and center-specific policies for transporting children. Complete all required training and certifications (CPR/First Aid, defensive driving, etc.). 5. Professional Conduct Build friendly and professional relationships with families during pick-up and drop-off. Represent the center with a courteous, calm, and dependable presence at all times. Communicate promptly with the Director if there are delays, emergencies, or concerns during the route.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Valid driver's license with clean driving record Must be at least 21 years old (or per state transportation regulation) Experience driving multi-passenger vans or buses preferred CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days) Background check and drug screening required

Work Schedule:
Part-time or split shift schedule. Typically includes early morning and late afternoon runs (e.g., 7:00 AM-10:00 AM and 2:30 PM-5:30 PM), with some flexibility for school days, field trips, or emergency transport needs.
