Purpose:

Following provided bus runs, ensure all students are delivered to school prior to the start of the school day and picked up from school no earlier than the official dismissal time to be delivered home. Transport students in a safe and efficient manner and perform all activities related to the safe operation of the vehicle.

Supervisor:

Director of Student Services Minimum Qualifications:

• HS diploma or equivalent
• Hold and maintain a valid driver's license
• Minimum of three years previous safe driving experience

Required Certifications:

(to be obtained at time of hire)

• Obtain School bus Certification
• 8 hours re certification yearly

Essential Functions:

• Drive district vehicle and transport students between pick up points and school or to various events, activities and destinations, delivering students to school prior to the official start of the school day, and not picking them up until official dismissal time to deliver them home
• Be in full charge of the van at all times and report unmanageable students to the Director of Student Services
• Check, clean and perform minor servicing of vehicle
• Check gas, battery, oil and water before departure
• Check vehicle for operating safety
• Complete all provided checklists
• Assists disabled children and others out of and into vehicles, if appropriate
• Install car seats and assist PK students into and out of the vehicles as appropriate
• Adhere to safety rules when loading and unloading of pupils
• Adhere to established routes, designated stops and keep to assigned time schedule
• Transport only authorized students
• Obey all traffic laws and observe mandatory safety regulations
• Protect confidentiality of records and information concerning students and staff
• Attend mandatory safety/training programs and meetings
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
