Job Description
Ambulette Services-Ambulette Driver - Per Diem-6a-6:30p, variable shifts as needed-Req 9226
Pay Range:
$19.64-$25.04• The ambulette Driver will operate an ambulette equipped to provide nonemergency transport of mobility- impaired individuals by accommodating wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers and offering safe custom transportation to medical appointments and treatments.Duties/Responsibilities:
Picks up patients at home or other facility. Provides the assistance required to safely board patients and caregivers. Ensures wheelchairs and passengers are properly secured before starting van. Depending on route, may pick up several patients for a common destination. On arrival at medical facility, assists patients in exiting the van and reaching the proper offices or treatment areas. Checks the ambulette to ensure that no personal items are left behind. Completes required reports. Immediately reports traffic accidents to supervisor, requesting police or ambulance service as needed. Complies with Hospital policies and procedures and New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Vehicle and Traffic laws.Qualifications:
Must hold a current New York State Class C or higher Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Must be able to be qualified under Article 19-A of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. DOT physical, or present a current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (valid for 2 years) required. Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Must pass a pre-employment fingerprint background investigation and review of driving records. High school diploma or equivalent and fluency in English required. Satisfactory completion of a training program in passenger assistance techniques, sensitivity training, and map reading, or demonstrated competence based on previous employment experience. •The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
