Van Chauffeur, Part Time Prob - (50029405) Description Job Summary This is transportation work driving a van for the School District. It is a split shift part time position with assignments that change daily. A van driver provides rapid response to students to and from school on a regularly scheduled route, alternate sites during the school day, after hours, and school sponsored athletic functions. Performs minor daily preventative maintenance to the van as needed. Essential Functions Provides critical support to transportation operations. Drives a passenger van to a number of assigned routes, picking up and discharging students at designated location; transports students on field trips. Supervises or assists in the supervision of students' behavior while in the passenger van. Cleans and maintains the passenger van; may assist transportation mechanics in the daily maintenance of the passenger van which may include checking batteries, radiators and changing tires. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of: o the principles of automotive equipment operation. o the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. o the component parts of automotive vehicles and their functions. o computer based equipment.
Demonstrated ability to:
o operate a vehicle safely and efficiently. o perform light manual tasks if required by work assignment. o understand and follow oral and written instructions. o establish and maintain effective working relationships. o complete and maintain vehicle records.
