Job Description
Overview We are seeking a reliable and professional Independent Contractor Driver to join our transportation team. This role involves cargo transportation, client communication, and navigation responsibilities, requiring a dedicated individual with a strong commitment to safety and excellent interpersonal skills. This role offers an excellent balance of consistent regional freight with reliable time at home, plus the flexibility to take on lucrative long-haul opportunities when desired. The ideal candidate will operate independently, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining a high standard of vehicle care and customer service. Duties Safely transport cargo to designated locations, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Maintain proactive, professional communication with dispatch, shippers, and receivers regarding ETAs, delays, or equipment issues as well as accepting all tracking requirements while under load. Utilize GPS navigation systems to plan efficient routes and ensure timely deliveries. Practice responsible driver maintenance, conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment longevity and safety. Demonstrate a highly motivated attitude with strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor at all times. Qualifications Minimum of one year of verifiable commercial driving experience. A clean driving record (Motor Vehicle Record - MVR) with a proven commitment to safety. Excellent communication skills in English for effective interaction with dispatchers and clients. Reliable cellular communication services with GPS. Strong understanding of basic vehicle maintenance and responsible equipment care. Highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills and professionalism.
