Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-Stepdown Job Type Travel Step into an advanced care environment as a Registered Nurse serving a busy Stepdown/PCU unit, where your clinical expertise will have a direct impact on patient recovery and well-being. This contract role features 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday commitments, providing critical care to adults and geriatric patients facing a range of complex conditions including chest pain, stroke, seizures, and post-operative neuro spine needs. The 16-bed intermediate care unit maintains a 1:4-5 nurse-to-patient ratio, with support staff availability varying by shift, and offers exposure to cardiac drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, and a variety of advanced respiratory modalities.
Schedule:
12-hour night shifts Every other weekend and holiday rotation Open to a 48-hour weekly schedule, with overtime after 48 hours
Required Qualifications and Certifications:
Current, unrestricted RN license (Ohio or Compact) Minimum 1 year of RN experience, with preference for acute care backgrounds BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certification Successful completion of a Dysrhythmia Exam (study guide available) Navy blue scrubs required
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Pre/post cath, cardiac, and neuro post-op experience Familiarity with intermediate/telemetry and med surg patient care Previous
EPIC EHR
use strongly preferred Ability to manage high patient turnover and complex admissions/discharges Critical thinking, rapid assessment, and confident adaptation to changing clinical conditions Strong communication and patient advocacy skills
