Job Description

Category Nursing - ORT Job Type Travel Step into a critical role supporting patient care and surgical excellence as a surgical technologist within a dynamic operating room environment. This contract position is ideal for someone skilled in perioperative support who values teamwork, careful attention to detail, and direct impact in surgical settings. Desired Qualifications & Experience Formal training or certification in Operating Room Technology (ORT) Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting surgical procedures in an operating room Thorough understanding of sterile technique, with commitment to maintaining sterile fields at all times Proficient in assembling and handling surgical equipment, supplies, and instruments Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team and adapt to changing circumstances Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other operating room staff Detail-oriented approach, particularly regarding counts of instruments, sharps, and sponges Schedule Contract position; hours and shifts to be discussed during the interview process Key Responsibilities Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of a variety of surgical procedures, proactively problem-solving in real time Verify instruments and supplies according to physician preference cards, ensuring all necessary items are available and ready for use Assemble, test, and confirm the working condition of equipment and disposables prior to procedures, following best practices for cleaning and sterilization Monitor and maintain the sterile environment throughout each procedure; immediately recognize and address any breaks in technique Set up sterile fields expediently, keeping accurate counts of all medications, sponges, instruments, and sharps as per policy Support accurate patient charge documentation related to supply usage Benefits Opportunity to gain valuable experience in a high-caliber operating room setting Work alongside a highly experienced surgical team Professional growth and skills development Advance your career by applying your ORT expertise in this hands-on, fast-paced role.
