Job Description

The Lockhart ISD Mission The mission of Lockhart Independent School District is to cultivate innovative learners and empower bold leaders who are prepared for a future yet to be imagined. Primary Purpose:
Serve as district attendance intervention specialist to provide assistance to campus personnel in interpreting and enforcing compulsory attendance laws, resolving truancy, excessive absences, and tardiness problems, and to serve as district liaison to parents, law enforcement agencies, and court personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or
GED Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of state compulsory attendance laws Ability to interpret laws, policies, and procedures Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to operate personal computer to develop databases and do word processing Ability to travel district wide to conduct home visits and visit sites where truant students have been reported to the district.
Experience:
Two years working in compliance, law enforcement, or with children or adults in a leadership role
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Attendance Enforcement Investigate cases of unexcused and excessive absences and tardies and enforce provisions of compulsory attendance laws.•Issue warnings; file complaints against students, parents, or individuals with parental control in accordance with compulsory attendance laws, Texas Education Code, and board policy; and refer to appropriate court.•Interpret and communicate compulsory attendance laws and school policy to parents and students. Represent the school district in court hearings resulting from attendance problems. Investigate cases of suspected drop out; retrieve textbooks and school property. Communicates effectively and appropriately with co-workers and supervisors. Personal Attributes Maintains positive and productive working relationships with others. Maintains proper standards of conduct and appearance. Exhibits positive attitude and enthusiasm in performance of duties. Shows interest in self-improvement and developing and knowledge and skills. Demonstrates emotional maturity, tact, and discretion in dealing with others. Responds constructively to supervision and guidelines. Follows all attendance and punctuality rules. Works to complete any other special assignments, projects, or duties assigned by Supervisor. Other Duties Schedules and carries out home visits. Can work flexible hours including late hours to conduct home visits and assist with parent meetings. Attends program specific training sessions.
