Job Description

at Shawnee Community College in ULLIN, Illinois, United States Job Description Responsible for providing truck driver training for students to learn the skills necessary to pass their state's CDL exam. Training includes instruction in the classroom, in a structured roadway environment, and in the public roadway. Monitoring of maintenance of equipment is also required. Essential Duties or Responsibilities The essential duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Other duties may be assigned. Instruction And Training Delivery Prepare and deliver comprehensive truck driver training to students, ensuring safe operation of commercial motor vehicles. Utilize established training materials to conduct formal classroom instruction, lab exercises, and hands-on training. Provide instruction on federal (FMCSA) and state regulations relevant to commercial driving. Conduct advanced training and testing preparation in vehicle inspection, driving maneuvers, range, and road driving skills to meet or exceed requirements for the Illinois Secretary of State Commercial Driver's test. Communicate clear learning objectives and essential information to students. Instruct and supervise students in the use of instructional materials, equipment, and relevant technology. Observe, evaluate, and document student performance and development throughout the course. Student Management And Support Manage student behavior in both classroom and driving range settings by enforcing established rules and procedures. Provide constructive feedback to students regarding training progress and performance. Assist in maintaining student employment data following program completion. Record Keeping And Reporting Maintain accurate academic records, including syllabi, driving skill checklists, and attendance logs. Prepare and submit required progress reports on individual students. Update all records promptly and in compliance with applicable laws, policies, and institutional regulations. Assist the Program Coordinator with maintaining and reporting internship and student employment information. Confidentiality And Professional Development Handle confidential information, including conversations, documents, and correspondence, with discretion and professionalism. Participate in internal and external training opportunities as recommended to maintain and enhance professional skills.
