Job Description:
Position Summary The Turnaround General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of turnaround operations within the petrochemical industry, ensuring safety, quality, and execution goals are met. This role directs team efforts to comply with company and client protocols, requirements, and expectations for turnaround work. Key Responsibilities Foster a continuous improvement culture focused on high-performance turnaround execution (readiness reviews, post-turnaround reviews, and actionable follow-ups) Utilize and manage key resources and equipment related to turnaround events Develop and use forecasting tools for labor, equipment, and resource planning Support sales and marketing efforts related to turnaround opportunities Oversee estimating efforts, ensuring scope definition and deliverables are clearly established and met Ensure turnaround projects are staffed with appropriately sized organizations based on complexity and scope Ensure all company and client deliverables are identified and completed Manage budgeted work scope, including change management processes and communication Implement and monitor performance metrics (earned value, schedule compliance, manpower curves, etc.) in alignment with requirements Develop financial forecasts and maintain profit and loss accountability Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and client personnel Ensure all work complies with quality control standards Promote a work environment aligned with policies related to discrimination, harassment, and workplace conduct Manage hiring efforts to meet project and operational demands Administer subcontractor and union relationships as required Manage and document corrective actions in accordance with company and client requirements Provide performance feedback and recommendations for employee development and compensation adjustments Skills and Capabilities Strong technical expertise in turnaround execution and petrochemical operations Ability to identify potential issues and proactively mitigate risks Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively Sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and operational demands Persistent follow-through to ensure issues are resolved Detail-oriented with strong accuracy and quality focus Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze data and drive improvements Proven leadership skills with the ability to delegate, manage workflow, and hold teams accountable Customer-focused mindset with strong relationship management skills Qualifications Bachelor's degree required Minimum 10 years of project management experience in the petrochemical industry 8-10 years of experience leading teams, including hiring, staffing, and development Experience interpreting technical manuals, drawings, and specifications Background in routine and corrective maintenance for process facilities Strong knowledge of process piping systems, exchangers, vessels, towers, and related equipment Proficiency with enterprise systems and standard business software Experience creating, analyzing, and presenting financial and operational reports Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive business and client information Travel Requirements Up to 50% travel required, primarily within the West Coast
