Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a positive difference every day by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired on a contract basis. Collaborate with dedicated educational teams to create accessible learning environments and empower students with visual impairments to reach their fullest potential. This rewarding opportunity is located near Hanover, PA and focuses on personalized learning and inclusivity.
Qualifications:
  • Valid certification or credentials as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Demonstrated experience with braille instruction and assistive technology for visually impaired students
  • Familiarity with creating and modifying Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and advocacy skills
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and adaptive classroom atmosphere
  • Flexibility and willingness to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement tailored lesson plans to address the unique needs of each student
  • Provide direct instruction in braille, low vision strategies, and use of assistive technology devices
  • Evaluate and adapt teaching materials to ensure accessibility for visually impaired learners
  • Partner with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accommodations are consistently met
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute valuable insights on student progress and needs
  • Facilitate open communication with families and caregivers to support students' educational journeys
