About IPSD Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Caterpillar's company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future. Role Definition The Industrial Power Systems Division is currently looking for a Controls Engineer in Seguin, Texas. As a Controls Engineer, you are responsible for performing various assignments designed to improve the facility, assist in supporting the manufacturing operation and resolve operational problems associated with equipment and facilities. This role is geared to systems integration, control, and programming of manufacturing equipment and the support services needed to maintain equipment and/or building operations.
What You Will Do:
Lead Control Systems Operations reactive call support by troubleshooting issues and driving actions to reduce or prevent production downtime Develop, implement, and execute control systems upgrades and new projects, including system design, programming, testing, and validation Program, configure, and troubleshoot Siemens PLC systems using TIA Portal and Step 7 Design, implement, and validate PLC, HMI, robotic (Fanuc), and vision/camera systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation Configure, maintain, and support industrial communication networks such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Profibus Develop, integrate, update, and validate DeviceWise applications to support plant connectivity and system integration Design and maintain control system architecture, including wiring diagrams, I/O devices, sensors, and embedded control hardware Coordinate with cross‑functional and interfacing disciplines to define control system design requirements, specifications, and verification testing Analyze current and future control systems, procedures, training, and equipment needs, and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and performance Troubleshoot control systems and equipment across the facility to identify root causes of failures, inefficiencies, and recurring issues; implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence Prepare and maintain technical documentation to support maintenance strategies, failure analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives Investigate maintenance‑related issues within the plant and recommend long‑term solutions to improve uptime and efficiency Manage and oversee external contractors performing maintenance, repairs, or control system modifications. Collaborate on the creation, development, and presentation of technical briefings and updates for technical and non‑technical stakeholders
What You Will Have:

Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner. Summary Pay Range:
$89,210.00 - $133,810.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
