This role will perform diagnostic sonograms across the spectrum of Abdominal, OB/Gyn, Vascular, MSK and Pediatric imaging according to established standards with certification in one specialty. This role will work to recognize normal and abnormal characteristics of sonograms in a variety of settings. As a Sonographer, understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care in regards to their growth and development process. The position actively supports the Hospital's and Department's Continuous Quality Improvement and customer service goals, individually and as an effective team member. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and ICARE values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures Other information:Required Job Qualifications:
- Completion of didactic coursework from an accredited Sonography Program.
- Completion of 60% of required clinical hours in an accredited Sonography Program.
- Registry or registry eligible for one certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), either Abdominal (AB), Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), Vascular (RVT), Musculoskeletal Sonography (MSK) or Pediatrics (PS). If registry eligible, must obtain certification within first 6 months of employment.
- Competent and proficient in Sonography
- Current CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - BLS from American Heart Association preferred
- Demonstrates good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Working knowledge of the IT systems that support the modality
- Ability to identify and flag abnormalities
Physical Demands:
- Requires full range body motion including handling and lifting patients when necessary. Must be able to move the equipment to perform Diagnostic Sonograms on a portable basis.
- Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

- Reports supply shortage or equipment failure to section supervisor.
- Follows work and patient schedules.
- Assist physician in the performance of procedures.
- Maintains logs and documentation as per departmental protocol.
- Provides patient history or information necessary for proper interpretation of the procedure
- Participates in the training and development of students assigned to area through clinical affiliations.
- Fills department staffing needs as determined by the management team.
