Job Description
Job Summary The Ultrasound Technician performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring medical conditions. This role involves operating specialized imaging equipment, preparing patients for procedures, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring high-quality patient care in a safe and professional environment. Key Responsibilities Perform ultrasound examinations including vascular, cardiac, and small-parts imaging as ordered by physicians Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures Explain procedures to patients and answer questions to reduce anxiety Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment safely and effectively Capture high-quality diagnostic images and measurements Review images for quality and completeness before submitting to radiologists or physicians Maintain patient records and document examination results accurately Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations Assist physicians during specialized procedures when needed Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance needs Stay current with advances in sonography practices and technology Qualifications/Education Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field Completion of an accredited sonography program Certifications ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification preferred or required Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred Experience Previous clinical or hospital experience preferred Experience in vascular, or cardiac sonography preferred Required Skills Strong knowledge of ultrasound imaging techniques Excellent patient care and communication skills Attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team Strong organizational and time-management abilities Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Frequent lifting, bending, and positioning of patients Manual dexterity to operate imaging equipment
