Job Description

Position Overview:
The Unit Support Worker 2 position provides preliminary contact with the public and supplies forms to customers applying for services; operates a multi-line telephone system; performs general clerical duties; assists, interviews, and screens incoming agency customers; and determines eligibility for emergency assistance (PRC) and expedited food assistance.

Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED is required. Applicant should be proficient in computer operation and office procedures. You must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and employment reference check. You must also maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined by Carroll County.
Essential Job Functions:
Assists, screens, and interviews incoming Agency customers. Completes forms. Schedules interviews. Screens applicants for expedited food assistance. Greets people who enter the Agency and determines purpose of visit. Directs visitors to correct location and provides referrals. Supplies necessary forms to customers applying for services. Maintains customer log-in sheet. Makes referrals to other agencies. Registers applicants in Ohio Benefits computer system. Copies verifications. Sends contact letters if mail-in application indicates possible expedited food assistance eligibility. Assists applicants in completing forms. Interviews customers for expedited food assistance eligibility. Instructs customers on use of EBT card. Resolves problems with EBT cards. Completes documents, forms, and reports for Healthchek, NET, and At-Risk Pregnancy programs. Makes referrals to Benefit Recovery Unit when receiving suspicious information. Determines eligibility for special PRC projects (e.g. gas vouchers) Completes documents and forms when customers call or come in to report changes. Sends forms to customers (i.e., employer's release of information). Updates information in Ohio Benefits. Logs and monitors hospital admission forms. Scans source documents into Agency scanning system and routes documents to the proper recipient. Determines eligibility for emergency assistance and self-sufficiency programs (e.g., Prevention, Retention, and Contingency Services (PRC)) which includes interviewing applicants, collecting necessary verifications, documenting customer needs, and making contacts with service providers. Represents Agency at State Hearings on PRC applications when needed. Performs receptionist duties for Public Assistance and PCSA customers (i.e., answers multi-line phone system, greets customers and public, notifies workers when customers arrive for appointments). Answers inquiries from customers and public and makes referrals to appropriate services and personnel. Provides clerical and technical assistance to Eligibility/Referral Specialist workers and Social Workers in completing case work (e.g., files, makes copies of verifications and requested information). Attends staff meetings and trainings. Performs other duties as assigned. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions. Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, employees, co-workers, and the public. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
