Job Description
Universal Banker Position Summary The Universal Banker is responsible for supporting daily branch operations by providing exceptional customer service, accurately processing financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures. This position serves as the first point of contact for customers and plays a key role in maintaining accurate cash controls, supporting account services, and assisting with operational and reporting tasks to ensure smooth branch operations. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full‑time position with working hours of Monday through Thursday 8:00am to 3:00pm and Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm. Hours may vary based on business needs. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Customer Service & Transactions Provide prompt, courteous, and professional service to all customers. Accurately process routine financial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, and transfers. Assist customers with account inquiries, debit card services, online banking support, statements, and basic account maintenance. Process night deposit items and assist with mobile and ATM transactions as needed. Maintain accuracy of individual cash drawer and vault balances. Perform daily balancing of teller drawer and vault, researching and resolving discrepancies. Adhere to dual-control, security, and cash limit procedures always. Operational & Branch Support Complete daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports and logs. Check and process account notices, inactive account reviews, and required mailings. Scan and image daily transactions in accordance with bank procedures. Assist with new account openings and account closures as needed. Support branch operations by assisting other departments and staff when needed. Compliance, Risk & Security Follow all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Review transactions for accuracy and reasonableness. Identify and escalate suspicious activity, fraud concerns, or policy exceptions to management. Ensure proper customer identification and security procedures are followed. Training & Team Support Serve as backup support for teller line or new accounts as staffing needs require. Assist coworkers and supervisors with operational tasks to ensure smooth daily workflow. Participate in required training and continuing education programs. Systems & Tools Used BMA-BankRite Touch Core banking and teller system CSI Apiture Digital Banking System Imaging and document management systems Operational reports, logs, and checklists Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Experience in retail banking or financial services environment preferred Banking, cash-handling, or customer service experience preferred Strong Interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to manage cash responsibly and maintain confidentiality Ability to follow written procedures and comply with regulations Basic computer skills and ability to learn bank systems Work Environment & Expectations Position involves prolonged standing or sitting at a teller station Requires the ability to manage cash, operate office equipment, and interact with customers throughout the day Schedule may include rotating duties and cross-training assignments Lift coin boxes or coin bags up to 50lbs AAP/EEO Statement People's Bank & Trust Co is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
