Job Description

Upholstery Manager Dumas, AR 71639 Full-time Full-time Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Upholstery Manager to lead our upholstery production operations. This pivotal role involves overseeing the upholstery process, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship, efficient workflow, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, comprehensive mechanical knowledge, and expertise in manufacturing. . As Upholstery Manager, you will drive operational excellence, optimize supply chain management, and foster a culture of quality and innovation within the upholstery department. Duties Make sure that unused parts are returned to shelves or the mill room. Keep fasteners, connectors, screws neatly stored in boxes at the worktables. Hand out the correct production tickets and make sure the tickets are placed on the appropriate pieces. Maintain a quality product. If questions arise, work through the Quality Manager. If it is a workmanship issue with one of your employees, retrain that person or take disciplinary action through Human Resources Department if needed. Work to "CLEAR" production schedules on time. Ensure that employees are at their workstations on time, to start the day and after breaks. Train your employees so that they work safely and efficiently. Cross training is a must to ensure production continues when people are absent. Inventory your packaging supplies, hardware, fasteners, etc. and notify Purchasing of low quantities so that ample time is allowed for ordering and we do not run out. New Styles - Department Manager will coordinate with Engineering to predetermine how new styles are to be built, including making sure all jigs, forms, gauges are in place before we go into production. Plant Manager must approve all "new" products. Read and Know the Policies of this Company as stated in the employee handbook. It applies to Managers alike and it will be strictly enforced by the Human Resources Manager. It is our guide in all situations and will be followed. All personnel matters will be referred to and handled through Human Resources. All disciplinary actions will be conducted in a timely and professional manner. Personal Conduct - you are expected to carry out your job duties and communicate with other members of management in a courteous manner. Profanity is unacceptable in the presence of female managers or your subordinates. Offensive materials, pictures, or other items are banned by the handbook. Evaluations that determine your compensation will be based on these criteria. Changes to your job responsibilities may become necessary, if so, they will be made with your knowledge, the approval of the Plant Manager and Human Resource Manager. Experience Proven experience in production management within a manufacturing environment, preferably in furniture or upholstery industries. Familiarity with MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems for effective production scheduling. Demonstrated success in implementing lean manufacturing techniques and process improvements. Mechanical knowledge related to upholstery machinery, assembly processes, and equipment maintenance. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams. Background in quality control methodologies and continuous improvement strategies. Must be able to train new hires on how to upholster and help team if needed on upholstery line.
