Position Overview This unique role focuses on providing high-level writing support to seniors during the fall college application process and to 11th-grade students in the spring semester. This position requires exceptional writing and editing skills when guiding students through the intricacies of the college application process. Additionally, this position is responsible for delivering small-group guidance. Job Responsibilities Writing Support for Seniors (Fall Semester) and Juniors (Spring Semester): Work closely with seniors to support the development, editing, and refinement of personal statements, supplemental essays, and other written components of their college applications. Provide individualized feedback and coaching to ensure students' authentic voices are reflected in their writing. Host workshops and small-group sessions focused on essay brainstorming, structure, and revision. Collaborate with the college counseling team to meet deadlines and ensure the timely completion of application materials.
General Duties:
Maintain records of student interactions and provide progress updates to the Director of College Counseling. Attend and contribute to department meetings and department programming events. Support the broader initiatives of the College Counseling Office as needed. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in English, History, or College Counseling preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in college counseling, admissions, teaching, or professional writing/editing. Proven track record of successfully guiding students through the writing components of college applications. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment. Experience in independent schools or college admissions, preferred.
