This individual will develop in vitro target engagement (TE), pharmacodynamic (PD), and disease biomarker assays to support Immunology and Respiratory portfolio projects and will use innovative technologies to discover biomarkers that advance novel research programs. This position requires hands‑on experience with cell‑based assay development, primary animal and human cell culture systems, ligand‑binding assays, strong attention to experimental detail, teamwork, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Duties & Responsibilities As a technology expert, develops and implements experimental approaches that contribute to Biomarker Discovery group goals in an independent and efficient manner, with minimal supervision. Designs, executes, and troubleshoots routine and innovative TE/PD (including direct and indirect TE) and disease biomarker assays using animal and human matrices; analyzes experimental data, interprets experimental outcomes, and proposes appropriate follow‑up experimental plans. Interacts regularly with colleagues within the Biomarker Discovery group and across organizational functions to move new therapeutic concepts through their lifecycle. Keeps abreast of relevant scientific literature and extracts applicable information from published methods, protocols, and emerging technologies. Presents scientific work at internal and external meetings. Proposes and contributes to the incorporation of new technologies and/or assumes departmental responsibility for technical aspects of portfolio projects. Trains junior scientists in laboratory operations; productively contributes within a matrix organization and actively shares scientific ideas and technical expertise across the department. Co‑authors peer‑reviewed manuscripts, technical reports, and internal scientific documents. Adopts best practices internally and externally; complies with applicable regulations; performs all work in a safe manner; and maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and company policies.
Scientist III:
Independently executes defined biomarker assays and technical workstreams. Serves as a technical owner for specific assays, platforms, or studies. Contributes to data interpretation and scientific input to project teams. Supports multiple programs with increasing scientific autonomy.
Scientist IV:
Acts as a biomarker lead or co‑lead for portfolio projects. Drives biomarker strategy, assay selection, and translational framing for programs. Integrates biomarker data across platforms to inform project‑level decisions. Provides scientific mentorship and technical leadership within the group. Represents Biomarker Discovery in cross‑functional project discussions. Requirements Strong hands‑on experience with immunoassay development, including cell‑based and ligand‑binding assays. Experience with standard laboratory techniques such as mammalian cell culture, human, cynomolgus, and murine blood handling and blood product preparation, peripheral blood cell isolation and culture, DNA/RNA extraction, RT‑qPCR, and western blotting. Ability to learn and apply new technologies and scientific concepts. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with flow cytometry data analysis tools (e.g., FlowJo) and GraphPad Prism. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Independent thinker with the ability to plan, execute, and adapt technical activities. Strong analytical skills to effectively interpret, summarize, and present experimental data and related findings.
Scientist III:
Master´s Degree with 3+ years experience in a related scientific discipline or Bachelor´s Degree with 7+ years experience in a related field or equivalent experience in a related field
Scientist IV:
Master´s Degree with 6+ years experience in a related scientific discipline or Bachelor´s Degree with 10+ years experience in a related field or equivalent experience in a related field Compensation Data Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities Experience with direct and indirect target engagement (TE) assays and receptor/target occupancy assays. Hands‑on experience with flow cytometry, including assay development and data interpretation. Experience with patient sample handling, processing, and associated documentation. Hands‑on experience with primary human fibroblasts, including culture and experimental manipulation.
