Open Until Filled SUMMARY This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the water/wastewater treatment faicility. The Operator assures that water/wastewater treatment operations are efficient and according to established standards.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school and two years of progressively responsible experience in the operation of medium and heavy equipment The ability to obtain S-4 certification from the State of Michigan or D Waste Water license from the State of Michigan Any equivalent combination of training and experienceDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include, but are not limited to, the following: Assures that proper safety standards and precautions are followed. Monitors utility systems such as water supply, electrical systems, plumbing, piping and HVAC. Uses control panels and surveillance systems to detect and monitor malfunctions in utility systems. When a malfunction is detected, inspects affected systems and areas. Diagnoses and corrects utility problems when possible; contacts outside contractors to repair utility problems when necessary. Conducts routine maintenance checks and performs preventive maintenance on utility equipment. Notifies supervisor of utility equipment needing additional attention or repairs. Monitors supply room and inventory of spare parts. Performs other related duties as assigned.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of effective supervisory methods, practices and techniques. Considerable knowledge of effective and proper maintenance practices and standards pertaining to a water distribution system. Keep records and prepare reports. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, contractors and the general public. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

(if required) Medium and heavy motorized equipment operation Basic equipment maintenance Safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use and operation of motorized equipment and hand and power tools.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
May require non-traditional hours including working evenings, weekends and holidays as required to meet the program requirements and deadlines Ability and willingness to travel for program needs, meetings, and continuing education Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, reliable transportationSECURITY SENSITIVE
