Job Title:
Utility Inspector Job Description Support all documentation and reporting for third-party inspection services related to natural gas lines, whether new or replacement installations. This position involves significant administrative work combined with fieldwork during pipe installation and replacement. Responsibilities Manage red lines and as-builts for new pipe installations. Record starting and stopping points for pipes according to design specifications and document depths. Use a measuring wheel to gather measurements at specific locations, similar to surveying. Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and utility maps. Utilize laptop programs to accurately record all data. Essential Skills Experience in field engineering, technician, inspection, or APM roles related to underground construction projects (e.g., pipe, gas, electric, landfill, civil). Strong documentation skills using tablets or computers for field notes. Experience with construction measurements using tools like Trimble or ArcGIS. Comfortable working in field environments where utility work is ongoing. Strong quality assurance and quality control or reporting capabilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in any type of field engineering, technician, inspection, or APM role tied to underground construction projects. Proficiency in using Trimble, ArcGIS, or similar measurement tools. Work Environment The position is based in the Baker City, OR market, within the city and a 10-15 mile radius. The work involves a mix of truck-based and on-site inspections. You will collaborate with another employee but primarily work with the client's foreman. Working hours are from 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Saturday, totaling 60-hour work weeks. The role extends until the ground freezes, typically around November. A company truck is provided for commuting. On-site attire includes a hard hat, high visibility shirt or vest, and composite or steel-toe work boots. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Baker City, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
