Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Utility Pipe Crew Equipment Operator proficient in both loader and excavator operation. This role is critical to the success of our utility installation crews, requiring a strong understanding of workflow, trench safety, and coordination with pipe layers and ground personnel. The ideal candidate can operate efficiently while maintaining safe trench conditions and supporting productive crew operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate excavators and loaders to support utility pipe installation Excavate trenches to proper depth, grade, and alignment Safely perform and maintain proper benching, sloping, and shoring practices Install and work within trench boxes and other trench protection systems Understand and maintain efficient workflow to support pipe crew productivity Load, move, and place materials safely on-site Communicate effectively with crew members, foremen, and spotters Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance Follow all OSHA and company safety regulations at all times

Qualifications:

Proven experience operating both excavators and loaders in utility work Strong understanding of trench safety requirements including benching, sloping, and shoring Experience working with trench boxes and all forms of trench protection systems Ability to read plans and understand grade and layout requirements Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to job site safety Ability to work efficiently as part of a crew in a fast-paced environment Valid driver's license required (CDL is a plus)

Work Conditions:

Outdoor work in varying weather conditions Physically demanding environment with extended periods of equipment operation May require early mornings, overtime, or weekend work
