Job Description

General Purpose:
Under policy direction from the UT Director, maintains and repairs water and sewer lines, and performs related duties as required.
Essential Functions:
1. Assists Service Worker II in daily tasks assigned. 2. Stocks truck daily with necessary equipment; maintains a clean truck to ensure safety. 3. Replaces, repairs, and maintains water and sewer lines. 4. Installs new water lines and sewer taps. 5. Conducts yearly maintenance and tests of fire hydrants; replaces fire hydrants. 6. Performs small plumbing jobs for City buildings. 7. Maintains water systems for city command areas. 8. Completes work orders relating to water and wastewater. 9. Monitors lift stations and problem areas on a weekly basis. (These essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties. Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of theory, principles, and techniques of municipal water and sewer maintenance functions. 2. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local law, codes, and regulations governing the administration of water and wastewater functions and activities. 3. Knowledge of safety procedures relating to water and sewer operations. 4. Ability to understand, interpret, explain, and apply local, state, and federal law and regulations governing water and wastewater services. 5. Ability to exercise sound, expert independent judgment within general policy guidelines. 6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff, other governmental and regulatory officials, private and community organizations, developers, and others encountered in the course of work.
Training and Experience :
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; one year experience in water and sewer experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licenses, Certificates, Special Requirements:
A valid Class B Florida CDL on the date of hire.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. 2.
Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information, and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or new skills; work under deadlines with constant interruptions; interact with City staff and other organizations; and frequently deal with dissatisfied or quarrelsome individuals.
