- Routine Pay Grade GE06 Pay Basis Semi-Monthly Advertised Salary $43,645 to $64,922 annual salary range. (Starting salary rate depends on qualifications and experience). - you would be working with an environmental outreach program designed to reduce pollution from food grease.
Typical tasks include:
Public outreach and education, visiting restaurants, giving civic league talks, distributing public service messages in neighborhoods, and providing outreach at festivals and events. Inspecting grease traps for proper installation, cleaning, and maintenance; teaching people about the right way to dispose of grease and enforcing ordinances. Maintains various logs and documents inspections. Requires competence in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and database systems; must be skilled in organizing and maintaining accurate records. Reads technical instructions, procedure manuals, and interprets data to solve practical problems. Composes clear, accurate and courteous correspondence. Performs other departmental duties as needed or assigned. The successful candidate must be able to obtain a Special Conservator of the Peace endorsement within 6 months of hire. Must be able to comprehend and apply city ordinances fairly and consistently; and be a skilled investigator, detecting violations and recommending appropriate corrective action in a calm effective manner. Required QualificationsVOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
: Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in environmental/health studies, engineering, or a closely related field. Associates degree in environmental/health studies, engineering, or a closely related field is preferred.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
: In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standards, this job class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience.SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
: Requires a valid driver's license with a driving record that complies with the City's Driving Standards. Ability to obtain, within 6 months of hire, the Conservator of the Peace designation, appointment, certification, or other credential required by the City for performance of assigned enforcement activities.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of wastewater systems, site plan drawings and building plans a plus. Familiarity with code enforcement and court procedures a plus. Ability to use basic algebra involving variables and formulas, basic geometry involving area, volume, ratios, flow rates, and percentages.
