What they do
A Military Specialist operates and maintains vehicles and mechanical equipment pertinent to mission success, whether on the sea, land or in the air. May monitor communication, detection, or weapons systems during operations. Interprets and evaluates tactical situations, making recommendations to supervisors. May operate weapons targeting, firing, and launch systems whether during combat or peacetime. In addition to their combat training, they have also specialized training in swimming, diving, parachuting, survival, emergency medicine, and foreign languages. Duties include conducting advanced reconnaissance operations and collecting intelligence information; recruiting, training, and equipping friendly forces; conducting raids and invasions on enemy territories; laying and detonating explosives for demolition targets; locating, identifying, defusing, and disposing of ordnance; and operating and maintaining sophisticated communications equipment.

Purpose:
Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a full-time SSDS Readiness Maintenance Specialist to oversee the requirements of the Statement of Work (SOW), in Wallops Island, VA. Assists in various types of electronic systems such as C4I, Combat Systems, Communication Systems, etc., Duties include system design, integration, modification, testing, installation engineering, and design engineering, developing and reviewing equipment test plans and procedures, conducting analyses, analyzing test results, and recommending design changes to bring systems into compliance with design/performance specifications. Adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes. Coordinates, computes, or synthesizes engineering or technical data. Uses prescribed mathematical formulae and/or models to calculate measures of performance characteristics for electronic systems. Supervises technical staff assigned to project. Duties include the training of project personnel in the procedures and approaches available for the work effort.
Qualifications:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED and at least 6 years of experience in maintenance management of shipboard electronics combat systems equipment. Must have the demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule personnel to support maintenance tasks across mission facilities and make recommendations for troubleshooting, workarounds, or corrective actions.
Security Requirements:
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. Prefer an Active DoD Secret security clearance.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel up to 25%. If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Communicating with others to exchange information. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
