Job Description

Job Description The veterinary assistant is responsible for maintaining the sanitation and sterilization of the hospital's building, grounds, equipment and instruments. They are the veterinarian and technician's primary support in holding / restraining patients for treatment, preparing them for surgery and helping to monitor patients when housed in the hospital. They anticipate the needs of technicians and doctors by having instruments, exam rooms, treatment and surgical centers clean and ready to use. We train our medical team in best practice medicine and we promote from within. We are currently seeking an experienced assistant that can be trained to shoulder more technical responsibilities and relieve our technicians of routine procedures. This is a physically demanding job that requires walking and/or standing for extended periods, working in a bent position, and lifting up to 50 lbs. independently. Pay is commiserate with experience. Preference will be given to assistants with experience at small animal veterinary general practice clinics/hospitals and those with longevity at their previous employers.
