  • Full-time Job Summary WAGS Animal Hospital is a family-owned veterinary hospital seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant/Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team.
WAGS is proudly owned by a veterinarian husband and wife team that treat their staff like family. We are dedicated to client education, preventative, high-quality medicine, and community outreach. Outside of the hospital, WAGS engages in community events such as famers markets, public library readings, and more. We are proud to serve not only our patients and clients, but also our community, providing access to veterinary care for our local shelters. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist veterinarians during examinations, procedures and surgery. Perform animal handling and restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both animals and staff. Conduct laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, while maintaining accurate records. Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian. Assist with Radiographic imaging. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including surgical areas and examination rooms. Provide client education on pet care, preventive health, vaccines. Prepare, monitor, and recover animals under general anesthesia for routine surgeries (soft tissue and dentals).
Qualifications and personal attributes:
A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their welfare. Previous experience is required (3-5 years minimum). Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology as well as veterinary terminology. Familiarity with dental terminology related to animal care. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping. Team-oriented and adaptable to changing clinic needs. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members. Light-hearted with a great sense of humor. Empathetic and patient with both animals and their owners. Reliable and punctual with strong attention to detail. Calm under pressure and able to manage sensitive situations.
